What Was the Live Chat About?
This live chat was all about connecting with new members of the SwiftPaws community and answering any questions you had about using your SwiftPaws system. We want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your product, and we discussed key topics like:
- How to set up your SwiftPaws course based on your dog’s speed and space.
- Why our lure flags are made from maize flour and how they’re safer for pets.
- Troubleshooting common battery issues and how you can upgrade your system for more power.
- Exciting new products, like our indoor version of SwiftPaws made especially for cats!

Your Top Questions Answered!
Q: How much space do I need for setting up my SwiftPaws course?
A: It depends on how fast your dog is running! For faster dogs like Greyhounds or Whippets, we recommend giving them plenty of room to make turns—about half the length of the straightaway. Smaller dogs or herding breeds can handle tighter turns and need less space. You can also experiment with different shapes for the course, like setting it up as a rectangle to add variety to your dog’s playtime.
Q: What are SwiftPaws flags made of? Are they safe for my dog?
A: Great question! Our flags are made from maize flour (corn), making them a safer alternative to plastic in case your dog accidentally ingests them. While it’s not recommended to let your dog eat the flags, maize flour is much better for them than plastic. We also encouraged customers to get creative—some users have tried using strips of fabric, faux fur, or even feathers on the lure line for a different play experience!
Q: I’ve had some issues with the batteries. They don’t seem to last very long. What should I do?
A: If your batteries aren’t lasting as long as expected, we recommend checking out our Battery Care Guide. Proper battery care can help improve performance. If you’re still experiencing issues, reach out to support@swiftpaws.com for help. We also offer system upgrades! If you have the Home Original and need more power, you can upgrade to Home Plus for a small cost difference. The Home Plus system comes with a longer-lasting battery.
Q: I’m having trouble with throttle control—my dog keeps catching up to the lure. What can I do?
A: If your dog is catching up to the lure too quickly, we suggest using the Indoor Mode in the SwiftPaws app, which slows down the lure and gives you more precise control. Although this mode runs slower, it allows you to fine-tune the speed, making it easier to stay ahead of your dog. If you still need more control or have a very fast dog, upgrading to a more powerful system like Home Plus might be the best option.
Q: How long should I wait between play sessions?
A: It depends on your dog’s fitness level! Typically, we recommend letting your dog run 2-3 sessions back-to-back, then giving them a break for about 20 minutes before running again. If you have an athletic dog, they might enjoy running multiple sessions in a row, but always be mindful of how tired they seem and adjust their breaks accordingly.
Q: I’d like to track my play sessions. Does the app have that feature?
A: Yes! The SwiftPaws app tracks play sessions by date, so you can see when you’ve played and keep track of your dog’s activity. We’ve heard your feedback about adding timestamps and a calendar view, and we’re working on potential updates to make tracking sessions even easier.
Q: Can I get stronger stakes for the SwiftPaws course setup?
A: If you’re dealing with harder ground, you can easily find stronger stakes at your local hardware store. We’ve designed our stakes to be lightweight and easy to ship, but if you need something more durable, a hardware store should have plenty of options that work better for compacted or tough soil.
Did You Know? You Can Upgrade Your SwiftPaws Kit!
Here’s something we’re really excited about: every customer has the option to upgrade their SwiftPaws kit! Whether you started with CHASE!, Home Original, or Home Plus, you can easily move up to the next version if your needs have changed, your pet requires more power, or you’ve expanded your fur family!
How does it work?
- Upgrade your drive unit: The upgrade process is simple! You’ll send back your current drive unit, and for just the difference in cost, you’ll receive the next version up—whether it’s from CHASE! to Home Original or from Home Original to Home Plus.
- Keep the rest of your kit: Your existing pulleys, stakes, flags, and tethers are all compatible across versions, so there’s no need to buy a completely new kit!
- Why upgrade? If you’ve added more dogs to the family, have a more active or larger breed, or just want the added power and speed of the higher models, upgrading gives you access to SwiftPaws’ top-tier performance.
Example:
Let’s say you started with CHASE!, our most affordable kit, and over time you’ve found that your dog needs more speed and longer courses. You can upgrade to Home Original, which offers speeds up to 30 mph and courses up to 300 feet. Or, if you need even more power, you can go all the way up to Home Plus, which can reach speeds of 36 mph with courses up to 750 feet.
